Early Childhood Screening appointments are completed for the 2016-2017 school year. Early Childhood Screening resumes in September, 2017. Families with children who will be ages 3 - 5 years old will receive information in early September providing families with dates available for appointments.
**Early Childhood Screening is mandatory for any child who will attend a public school kindergarten in Minnesota.** If your child will be attending a public school in September, 2017 please call 507-494-0907 to schedule an appointment in September.
Early Childhood Screening is a quick and simple check of how your child is growing and developing. When completed between the ages of 3 and 4, screening can detect possible health or learning concerns, so that children can get help before they start school. At our screenings, we sometimes find that children do a bit better with meeting several new adults and moving to different screening areas when they are closer to three and a half. We encourage you to use your knowledge of your child to decide at what age you wish to schedule. If you have concerns about your child’s growth or learning, we urge you to schedule a screening as soon as possible after their third birthday.
At your child’s screening, a trained professional will check:
- Height & Weight
- Large & Small Muscles
- Thinking, Language & Communication Skills
- Social & Emotional Development
Early Childhood screening is offered free of charge to all children living in the Winona Area Public Schools attendance area. Screenings are help on selected Thursday and Friday from September through early May.
Screenings will be held at our Early Learning Classrooms at
Goodview Elementary School - 5100 West 9th Street, Winona, MN
